Choudhri’s “abuse of the Internet at the time he is supposed to be performing his job demonstrates his disinterest in the job,” Chancellor Joel Klein said.

Well geez Mister Chancellor. Nothing gets by you, does it? Yeah his job sucks. He works for your lame ass, know nothing Department of Education.

As a fellow work time surfer, I fully support Choudhri and believe he’s got a raw deal for being fired for surfing in the office. A reprimand is sufficient, and maybe banning certain web sites would crack the whip a little. I can’t possible imagine a day at work without the internet. When the connection is down at work, you can hear the cries and nervous breakdowns in the office. Any distaction from doing the mind numbing work is welcomed by me and all my slacker buddies. Here’s hoping the folks who run the internet connection at work do not get wind of this news and decide to take similar actions. I say, if we’re not allowed to surf at work, then we should work less hours, thus giving us more hours to surf at home.

Happy Cinco de Mayo y’all. I’m celebrating the French defeat in Mexico by liberating myself from the office on this beautiful, sunny, summerlike, Friday. What Mexican-centric day would it be without eating the chicano invention, the burrito. We had lunch at Mexican joint Rachel’s on 5th Avenue and washed it down with glasses of hortchada. Es Muy Rico, as they say. I would love to have a michelada, some mezcal, or even some chapulines tonight. I’ll just settle for a couple of Dos Equis.

In March the Chinese government went on the offensive with spitters at home. Those caught spitting will either have to clean it up on the spot or cough up 50Yuan on the spot. The government also wants to curb soup slurpers and queue shovers, but haven’t mentioned any penalties for these violators.

I’m not so bothered by slurpers or even the mad dashes to the front of queues as I am with public expectorating. Not only do the Chinese spit, they preface the spit, almost a warning, with a loud “haaaaak.” The spitting is just limited to the pavement. When we were at the Terra cotta warriors museum, a dressed in the usual Chinese tourist attire of polyester suit, hacked and spat right on the museum floor.

Now comes news that the Chinese government is alsoschooling Chinese tourists abroad to not leave no mucus behind.

Thanks to Applecare and my forced allegiance to Apple I’m on my third ipod in the last 12 months. Together, Karen and I have been through 5, well 6 if you count the one Danny handed (donated?) to me. Karen’s now sporting the 30gb video ipod and I’m on my third 40gb.

To continually waste valuable work resources, I’ve been doing the whole process of ripping cds and transferring to the ipods on the stellar, super faster G5 tower. 1547 songs in, I have another 30gb to go. Another 500 songs to go before the Ipod self destructs again.

Today’s cds to rip are:
1-X / Los Angeles
2-The Yardbirds / Greatest Hits
3-Laura Cantrell / Not the Tremblin’ Kind
4-The Promise Ring / The Horse Latitudes
5-Primal Scream / Screamadelica
6-Spiritualized / Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space
7-The Sea and Cake / The Biz
8-Elliott Smith / XO
9-Elliott Smith / Either/Or
10-The Specials / The Specials
