Well at least to mosquitos, bees, and assorted bugs that love to bite. I’m surprised, and at the same time completely thrilled, at the fact that I haven’t contracted malaria or had lyme disease. I’ve been eaten alive by noseeums, various mozzies, stung by a bee (I didn’t even provoke it!), attacked by ants, and still am a landing strip for flies. I’ve been told that it’s because of my sweat making my skin so juicy. I guess that also explain why Neena does drive by lickings of my face, arms, feet, and legs. Even dogs on the street wanna lick. I’m so juicy that other people who are prone to big bites do not get bitten when they’re around me. When we were traveling through Oaxaca with Keywan, he had no problem sleeping through the night. Meanwhile, I was awaken every hour scratching the swollen, itchy skin.
Deet products seem to work best for me at keeping the bugs at bay. Unfortunately, it is known to do damage to brain cells. Deet-free Avon Skin So Soft works ok, but requires constant reapplying which is rather impractical when I’m sleeping. I’ve even ordered extra garlic in my meals when we’re traveling through moz areas. All that garlic not only keeps the bugs back, but it also keeps vampires from biting. It was also quite effective in keeping karen away. Now come news about the greatest alternative to Deet, Bite Blocker.
It sounds promising as the New England Journal of Medicine, WedMD, Johns Hopkins University, Cornell University and a host of other medical experts have given Bite Blocker good ratings. I’ll see it first hand tonight. I’ve applied it on my arms, legs, and face to keep this naggin moz flying around the apartment for the past couple of weeks from disturbing my slumber tonight.
